TECHNICAL NOTES

Professors Charles Swedlund and Dave Gilmore taught me to appreciate the possibilities and curiosities to be found in different aspects of photography. In addition to those substantive influences, my students continue to enlighten me with new ways to create photographs. The featured photographs in the different website collections were created with a range of equipment and materials. The technical details are sometimes of interest to photographers and students who view the work.

Cameras include: Hasselblad ArcBody with 35mm lens, Hasselblad SWC/M, Hasselblad Xpan, Hasselblad EL/X with 50mm, 60mm, 120mm and 180mm lenses, and a Deardorff V8 with 120mm Nikkor, 250mm Fujinon and 450mm Fujinon lenses. Dave Gilmore was kind enough to loan me his Roundshot 220 with a Nikkor 35mm PC lens for the 360-degree images.

All the photographs were made with film. The square images were created on 120 Kodak Portra 160/400 VC and Ilford FP 4 and Pan F films. Ilford Delta 3200, Kodak Plus-X, Fuji Superia and Ilford Pan F types were used in the Xpan. Kodak TXP 8x10 sheet film was used in the V8. I processed the black and white films in PMK, D-76V, BW-44, FX-37 and Rodinal.
